Fixed installations bring two problems at once. Spaces are acoustically complex: crowded restaurants, gyms with demanding music, shopping centres with long reverberation times. And architects and designers want visual cleanliness, matching materials and total integration.
Fonestar created the LIGNUM SERIES to solve both: high acoustic performance in a compact, elegant wooden cabinet with a polyurea finish.

LIGNUM drivers reach higher sound pressure with less electrical power, so you can use more modest amplifiers, cut the system's overall energy use and keep reproduction clear and balanced even at low volume. Fonestar quotes sensitivity from about 90 dB to 101 dB (1W/1m) across the range.
Built to work at high levels while staying clear and controlled. That suits noisy spaces such as gyms, sports centres and loud rooms, and gives wider coverage with fewer units. Fonestar quotes maximum SPL from about 108 dB to 126 dB depending on model. The coaxial 4″ and 6″ models put discretion and near-field clarity first; the 8″ and 12″ subwoofers add bass reinforcement and impact.
Optimised drivers and cabinets reduce structural resonance and non-linearity for better speech intelligibility. Fonestar states that, at rated operating conditions, average THD stays below 1% in the mid and high frequencies and below 10% in the bass.
The enclosure design keeps an adequate dynamic range without audible compression or distortion on transient peaks such as vocals, percussion or effects: more natural sound and less listener fatigue in continuous use. Every model uses a bass reflex design for more solid, controlled bass without turning up the volume.
LIGNUM cabinets are birch plywood, for less resonance, a better acoustic response and a more elegant, less industrial look. A sprayed polyurea coating protects against humidity, knocks, scratches, abrasion and temperature.
The steel grille has acoustic foam behind it and a powder-coated black finish, so the whole range shares one look, from the 4″ to the 12″ subwoofer.

Developed by and for sound professionals: discreet brackets, VESA holes so you can use existing brackets, and multiple wall and ceiling options mean less installation time and fewer extra accessories.
A compact bracket for quick wall or ceiling installation comes in the box. 3/8″ microphone-stand adapter, 4 x M6 wall points, plus M8 safety (LIGNUM-4: 1 x M8; LIGNUM-6: 3 x M8 for rigging and safety).
5 x M8 points for flying, wall bracket and safety, plus VESA 100 x 100 (4 x M6). LIGNUM-12 and LIGNUM-12SUB have a 35 mm hole for pole mounting.

The two new full-range models move up from coaxial tweeters to a 1″ compression driver, for more output and controlled 90° x 90° coverage in larger rooms, bars, gyms and multi-purpose venues.
Both have Euroblock and 4-pole speaker connectors on the input and output for daisy-chaining, five M8 points for flying, wall bracket and safety, and VESA 100 x 100 mounting. The LIGNUM-12 also has a 35 mm socket for pole-mounting over a subwoofer.

LIGNUM is a low-impedance range (8 Ω, or 16 Ω for the LIGNUM-4). Fonestar doesn't list a 100V line transformer for any model, so drive it from a low-impedance amplifier. The 4-channel LUX SERIES RMS ratings per channel at 8 Ω line up with the LIGNUM models' RMS ratings.

All LIGNUM models are passive, so they need an external amplifier. The Fonestar LUX SERIES 4-channel amplifiers suit low-impedance systems like this.
LIGNUM-4 is 16 Ω. LIGNUM-6, -8, -12, -8SUB and -12SUB are 8 Ω.
LIGNUM-4 and LIGNUM-6 come with a wall mount. For the range there is also the LIGNUM-BR-L full-motion wall bracket.
Fonestar lists every LIGNUM model as low impedance (8 Ω, or 16 Ω for the LIGNUM-4), with no 100V line transformer, so use a low-impedance amplifier. For 100V projects, ask our team about our 100V ranges.
